PROGRAMS

TEENSupreme KEYSTONE CLUB
Keystoning is the Boys & Girls Club Movement’s most dynamic teen program. Keystone Clubs are chartered leadership and service clubs for boys and girls ages 14-18. Keystoners elect officers and implement activities in six areas: service to Club and community, character and leadership development, education and career exploration, unity, free enterprise and social recreation.

TORCH CLUB
Torch Clubs are chartered small-group leadership and service clubs for boys and girls ages 11-13. A Torch Club is a powerful vehicle through which Club staff can help meet the special character development needs of younger adolescents at a critical stage in their development. Torch Club members learn to elect officers and work together to implement activities in four areas: service to Club and community, education, health and fitness and social recreation.

POWER HOUR
Sharpen your pencils and get ready for Power Hour: Making Minutes Count. The program staff use strategies, activities, resources and information to create an engaging homework help and tutoring program that encourages members ages 6-12 and 13-18 to become self-directed learners.

Image Makers: NATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST
This year-round program and annual contest encourage girls and boys ages 6-18 to learn and practice black and white, color and digital process photography. The ImageMakers National Photography Contest provides local, regional and national recognition. Select photographs are exhibited at B&GCA’s National Conference, National Education Summit and Youth Development Conferences.

FINE ARTS EXHIBIT PROGRAM
This year-round program encourages artistic expression among members aged 6-18 through drawing, painting, print making, collage, mixed media and sculpture displayed at local and regional exhibits. A panel of distinguished judges selects works for inclusion in the National Fine Arts Exhibit, which debuts at B&GCA’s National Conference and is displayed throughout the ensuing year.

YOUTH OF YEAR PROGRAM
Youth of the Year is BGCA’s premier youth recognition program for Club members. All members can benefit from participation in this program, which promotes and celebrates service to Club, community and family; academic performance; moral character; life goals; and poise and public speaking ability.

CONGRESSIONAL AWARD PROGRAM
The Congressional Award is a voluntary, individual non-competitive program open to any young person aged 14 through 23. Whether fit or disabled, affluent or disadvantaged, anyone can respond to the challenge of the program and participate. To receive a Congressional Award, participants must set and achieve goals in four categories - voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness, and exploration/expedition. The activities to achieve each goal must be challenging to the participant, but must be flexible enough to meet his/her interests and available resources. The participant pursues goals on his/her own time with the guidance of an adult knowledgeable in each activity area. Awards are earned in three categories – Bronze, Silver and Gold.

FAMILY/TEEN TALENT CONTEST
As part of the Nell Buckley Performing Arts Series, the Air Force conducts the annual Air Force Family & Teen Talent Contest. This program continues to be a positive family experience for the entire base population. Winners of the videotape judging will be invited to perform with TOPS IN BLUE when the team visits the winners’ bases.

TRAIL PROGRAM
TRAIL is an outdoor adventure program for teens ages 13-18. Young people participate in a variety of activities such as rock climbing, white water rafting, camping and horseback riding.

PASSPORT TO MANHOOD
This program seeks to instill in young boys the values and moral compass that will assist them in their journey from adolescence to manhood. It focuses on an effort to engage young boys in interactive discussions and activities that reinforce positive behavior. Activities include:

  • Values in personal decision-making
  • Cooperation and conflict resolution
  • Personal wellness
  • Substance abuse
  • Responses to authority
  • Fatherhood and the family
