School Age Program

Welcome to the Columbus Air Force Base School-Age Program.

The CAFB School Age Program offers fun, interesting and educational activities for children in grades K-6. Your child will spend the hours after school participating in a variety of activities planned specifically for him. Children have access to a fully equipped gymnasium, computer lab, arts and crafts area, an outdoor playground and more. During the summer months, you will be amazed at the number of camps, clinics, fieldtrips, and activities we have planned for your children.

PROGRAMS

TORCH CLUB
Torch Clubs are chartered small-group leadership and service clubs for boys and girls ages 11-13. A Torch Club is a powerful vehicle through which Club staff can help meet the special character development needs of younger adolescents at a critical stage in their development. Torch Club members learn to elect officers and work together to implement activities in four areas: service to Club and community, education, health and fitness and social recreation.

POWER HOUR
Sharpen your pencils and get ready for Power Hour: Making Minutes Count. The program staff use strategies, activities, resources and information to create an engaging homework help and tutoring program that encourages members ages 6-12 and 13-18 to become self-directed learners.

Image Makers: NATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST
This year-round program and annual contest encourage girls and boys ages 6-18 to learn and practice black and white, color and digital process photography. The ImageMakers National Photography Contest provides local, regional and national recognition. Select photographs are exhibited at B&GCA’s National Conference, National Education Summit and Youth Development Conferences.

FINE ARTS EXHIBIT PROGRAM
This year-round program encourages artistic expression among members aged 6-18 through drawing, painting, print making, collage, mixed media and sculpture displayed at local and regional exhibits. A panel of distinguished judges selects works for inclusion in the National Fine Arts Exhibit, which debuts at B&GCA’s National Conference and is displayed throughout the ensuing year.
