Human Resources Office


The Human Resources Office (HRO)is responsible for the staffing and recruitment of all non-appropriated fund (NAF) positions in the Force Support Squadron. The HRO maintains a continuing recruitment list in the office. This is a list of NAF positions in Force Support Squadron, which have a high turnover rate. These positions are not necessarily vacant at this time, but could be filled at some future date. All current NAF employees may apply for any position at any time by completing and submitting an AF Form 2550, NAF Application for Promotion or other Position Change, to the Human Resources Office, 14 FSS/FSH, Building 385. Some positions may require applicants to be 21 years of age.

Vacancies will not necessarily be announced. Therefore, employees are encouraged to submit an AF Form 2550, NAF Application for Promotion or Other Position Changes, if they want to be considered for a position. The form will be maintained in the applicant supply file as long as the employee is employed, or is placed in the applicable position. All questions should be directed to the Human Resources Office at 434-3134/2558.

***CHILD CARE POSITIONS***

The Child Development Program Assistant positions are located in the Child Development Center and the School Age Program Assistant positions are in the Youth Center. Applicants must be 18 years of age and have completed high school (High school diploma or equivalent must be provided). Applicants must submit a transcript to verify education requirements for CC-02 and CC-03 levels. There are two pay bands for this program and the hourly salary range is listed below:

APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR OUTSIDE APPLICANTS

The following forms are needed to apply for NAF positions:
- OF-612, Optional Application for Federal Employment (PDF File)

- Supplemental Questionnaire to Accompany Form OF-612.
- Proof of military spouse preference, if claiming
- Proof of transition hiring preference, if claiming
- DD-214 (member copy 4) if previous military service

The following forms are also needed to apply for a Child Development Program Assistant at the Child Development Center or a Recreation Aid or School Age Program Assistant at the Youth Center:

- Acknowledgement of Rights & Consent to Release Records
- NAF Application Continuation Form
- Continuation Page for Motor Vehicle Operator Positions

These forms, with an original signature, must be submitted to the Human Resources Office, Building 385 on Simler Blvd., Columbus AFB. Applications may be mailed to:

5. Proof of military spouse preference (MSP), if claiming. To claim MSP, applicant must be married to military member prior to receipt of official PCS orders, be among the best qualified candidates for vacancy being filled. Applicant must submit a copy of sponsor’s PCS orders as proof. General Information: Spouse preference applies to any position in all employment categories in Pay Band NF-III and below, Child Development Program Assistant and School Age Program Assistant (CC) positions, and equivalent hourly paid crafts and trades positions. However, preference applies only when the grade/pay band for which the spouse has applied is no higher than that previously held in the federal service. On initial appointment in the federal service, military spouse preference applies to all positions in Pay Bands NF-I – NF-III, CC positions, and equivalent hourly-paid crafts and trades positions for which qualified.

• Applications will be accepted no earlier than 30 days before the sponsor’s reporting date.

• Preference is limited to the specific positions for which application is made.

• Preference ends upon placement or declination of any position for which registered, whichever comes first. Preference shall be terminated on placement into any continuing position, i.e., one expected to continue for at least one year in either the appropriated or NAF work force, whether or not preference was applied.

• Preference may be exercised only once for each permanent relocation of sponsor.

• All military spouse preference “best qualified” determinations are made at the time the position becomes available to be filled.

• A list of all established NAF positions is posted on this web site and in the Human Resources Office, Building 385, located on Simler Blvd.

6. Proof of transition hiring preference (TSP), if claiming. To claim TSP military member must be involuntarily separated under other than adverse conditions. Be fully qualified and among the best qualified candidates for the vacancy being filled. Applicant must provide a copy of transition assistance ID card and copy of DD-214. General Information: Involuntarily separated members and their dependents may receive hiring preference for NAFIs. THP applies to any NAF job open to competition according to merit practices, at CC, NF-III and below and crafts and trades positions. A person may receive preference in hiring only once under P. L. 101-510. THP is terminated upon placement in or declination of a NAF position for which application is made, whichever occurs first. Preference is limited to the specific position for which application is made. THP “best qualified” determination will be made at the time the position becomes available to be filled.

7. Acknowledgement of Rights and Consent to Release Records – Any applicant applying for a Child Development Program Assistant in the Child Development Center or School Age Program Assistant or Recreation Aid in the Youth Center is required to read, sign and date this statement and submit with their application.

8. NAF Application Continuation Form - Any applicant applying for a Child Development Program Assistant in the Child Development Center or School Age Program Assistant or Recreation Aid in the Youth Center is required to complete this form, sign and date it and submit with their application.

9. Continuation Page for Motor Vehicle Operator Positions - Any applicant applying for a School Age Program Assistant or Recreation Aid in the Youth Center is required to complete this form, sign and date it and submit with their application.

Applications remain on file for referral to the selecting official for 90 days. After 90 days, applicants may request by phone or in person that their application be kept on file for another 90 day period. It is the applicant’s responsibility to notify this office of any changes to address, phone number or any other changes. Our office hours are 7:30 am to 4:15 pm, Monday through Friday.
