CLUB MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
You don't need to be a super-sleuth to be an ace
Air Force Club Card member! We've snooped
around to find answers to some frequently asked questions, and turned up
some tips about little-known benefits for you
Why does the Air Force require a credit card for
club membership?
There are four reasons: 1) gives members added value and convenience, 2)
provides a standardized charge system for all Air Force club customers, 3)
saves operating cost by eliminating in-house account billings and
collections, and 4) generates additional revenue to reinvest in Air Force
quality of life programs.
Does the card give me access to other military
clubs?
Your membership card admits you to over 160 clubs worldwide. Where local
reciprocal agreements are established, you may use your card at other
armed services' clubs, too.
Can I use my
card to purchase goods and services in other Services business activities?
Yes, your club card MasterCard is good anywhere MasterCard is accepted.
The Proprietary card may only be used at participating Services-operated
activities. As an added convenience, you can even have your childcare,
golf or aero club fees charged to your club card!
Do I have to charge all my club purchases?
No. Your club card is primarily a club membership identification card,
which is also a credit card. The only charges automatically posted are
your club dues. At the club, you choose whether to use cash, personal
check, your club card, or any other credit card (at an additional cost to
the club)
Why do some members have a Proprietary Card
instead of a
Master Card?
The Bank determines what type of club membership card and credit limit are
authorized based on each club member's personal credit history. The
proprietary card was only developed for two kinds of people. Those too
young to have any credit history and those whose credit history is bad.
What annual percentage rate (APR) of interest is
charged on club card account balances?
The club card's interest rate is several percentage points below the
industry average, at no more than five percentage points above the Prime
Lending Rate. No interest is charged if your account is paid in full
within 25 days of the billing date. A $20 late payment fee is charged on
account balances of $50 or more if the minimum payment is not received by
the due date. If there are extenuating circumstances leading to your late
fee, contact the Bank.
How can I change my credit limit?
The minimum credit line for members having a MasterCard club membership
card is $1000, or $5000 for Platinum. You may request that the Bank lower
your limit to $1000. The Bank will assist upon request if your open club
membership card line is a factor preventing you from obtaining consumer or
mortgage credit.
Why can't I change my club membership dues to
another credit card I already have?
Limiting charging to just one card saves the average base over $300,000 a
year in accounting and other fees, money which is used to enhance Services
programs. You can, however, transfer balances from your other cards to
your club card, to allow for one convenient payment.
What happens when I PCS or go TDY?
Your membership travels with you! Within 90 days of arrival, take a copy
of your PCS orders to your new club. You'll receive $25 in "Transfer
Coupons" as an added benefit! You must also provide the Bank and other
creditors with a change of address. If you are going TDY for 30 or more
days to a location that doesn't have a club visit your local club first
with your orders and they will suspend your dues for the duration of your
TDY.

How do I add my
rank to my card, or get a card for my spouse?
Club members may have their military rank embossed on their
card at no personal cost. A complimentary additional card may be requested
for a spouse. Members desiring either of these features should contact
their club.
Can I cash checks with my club card?
Yes! The MasterCard club card also allows you access to more than 350,000
Cirrus Automated Teller Machines worldwide (2.5% cash advance fee
applies).
